Justice M. N. Venkatachaliah

Justice M N Venkatachaliah, National Chairman of Executive Council of Institute of Directors, was a former Chief Justice of India. He was Chairman of the Human Rights Commission. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Science and in Law from the University of Mysore. He commenced general practice of law in the year 1951, and was appointed Permanent Judge of the High Court of Karnataka w.e.f. 6.11.1975 and Judge of the Supreme Court of India w.e.f. 5.10.1987. Subsequently, he was appointed Chief Justice of India w.e.f. 12.2.1993 and retired on 24.10.1994. He was 25th Chief Justice of India .Even after his retirement; he has continued to work on anti-corruption and human rights issues, including support for the launch of the Initiatives of Change Centre for Governance.
Dr. Ashwathnarayan C. N.

Dr. C. N. Ashwathnarayan entered mainstream politics in 2004, by joining the BJP. He was the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and the Minister of Higher Education, Information Technology & Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood, with the previous state Government. He was also the Chairman of the State's 'Covid-19 Task Force'. He transformed the 'Dhobi Ghat' in Malleswhwaram, making it the first modernized dhobi ghat, which has now become a 'National Model'.
Under his able leadership, the Department of Higher Education initiated steps to adopt the 'National Education Policy 2020', making it the first Indian State to do so. Also, the first state in the country to have integrated learning management solutions, and distributed tablet PCs among students for effective digital learning.
As the Minister for Information Technology, Biotechnology, and Science & Technology, he has taken several measures to encourage start-ups, Engineering R&D, Biotechnology, and establishing technology hubs. This has enabled Karnataka to lead the States' Start-up Ranking for 2 consecutive years in 2020, and retains its No. 1 position as the 'Most Innovative State'. The State contributes to about 34% of India's $ 60 billion bio-economy.
His Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood has launched the 'Skill Connect' and 'Skill Registry' portals with his guidance. Under the 'National Rural Livelihood Mission Scheme', various selfhelp groups have been established and brought under a single platform to encourage women in the State.

Ms. Leena Nandan, IAS

Mrs. Leena Nandan is an IAS officer of 1987 Batch, UP Cadre. Mrs. Nandan is a graduate in English (Hons.) from Patna Women’s College, Patna University and has done her Master’s in Development Management from the Asian Institute of Management, Manila.
She served in various capacities in the State and Central Government as District Magistrate in 4 districts, Managing Director, UP Tourism Corporation, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism etc. She was posted in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways as Joint Secretary in 2016 and continued there as Additional Secretary and then Special Secretary upto 2020. Mrs. Nandan assumed charge as Secretary in the Department of Consumer Affairs on 1st May 2020, before taking over as Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on 1st January 2022.
Dr. N. Kalaiselvi
Director General, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India
Dr. N. Kalaiselvi is the first woman Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research's (CSIR) 80-year history, a consortium of 38 research institutes across the country. With 25 years’ experience in the industry, as the Director General of CSIR, she will also hold the charge as Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), a part of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. Earlier in 2019, she became the first female scientist to lead the Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI).
Since 2015, she has committed to implementing e-mobility in India, contributing to the Indian Government’s Mobility Mission Concept Note, started by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). She also played a key role in the compilation of the Technical Report on National Mission for Electric Mobility (NMEM).
She is widely-known for her work in lithium-ion batteries, and electrochemical power systems. In particular, in development of electrode materials, she is currently involved in the development of “practically viable Sodium-ion/Lithium-sulfur batteries and Supercapacitors”.
A recipient of many awards, in 2007, she was awarded the ‘International Scientist of the Year’; during 1999 - 2019, she received multiple awards, fellowships and merits, including ‘Young Scientist Seminar Award’ from CECRI (thrice). In 1999, she was also awarded the ‘Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Visiting Fellowship’. In 2003, she received the ‘Brain Pool Fellowship of Korea’. In 2015, she was a recipient of the Materials Research Society Medal, followed by the C.V. Raman Mahila Vijnana Puraskara in 2019. Dr. Kalaiselvi has published over 125 research papers, and holds six patents. She received her PhD from Annamalai University.

Ovais Sarmad joined the United Nations Climate Change secretariat (UNFCCC) on 1 September 2017. He supports the Executive Secretary in managing the UNFCCC secretariat and its staff, advising on a range of issues relating to the strategic operations planning and development of the organization. Previously, he served as Chief of Staff to the Director General at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Geneva. Mr. Sarmad worked in several management and policy capacities in IOM over a period of 27 years. Prior to the IOM, he worked in the private and public sectors in London, where he qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (GCMA). Mr. Sarmad graduated from Osmania University in Hyderabad, India, as a Bachelor of Commerce.

Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, IAS is a topper of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) 1989 batch, is a gold medalist in Psychology, MBA from Australia and PhD in Rural Development. Currently, she is the Additional Chief Secretary, Planning, Programme Monitoring and Statics Dept., with the Govt. of Karnataka. Her most momentous experience has been during her stint as Deputy Commissioner, Belgaum District, when she deftly handled the worst floods of the century. She won the 2nd Best Panchayat Raj National Award in 2012. She steered a revolutionary legislation i.e. Karnataka's Guarantee of Services to Citizens Act, 2011 popularly known as "Sakala" Project, which bagged the PRIME MINISTER'S Award for Excellence in Civil Services. She has authored 13 books, covering subjects like Management, Personality Development, Women Empowerment, IAS Coaching etc.

Prabh Das is the MD & CEO of HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL). Prior to joining HMEL, during his 25-plus years’ tenure in the Indian Administrative Services, he worked as the District Magistrate and Collector in Midnapur and Jalpaiguri districts of West Bengal, and later served as the Chief Executive Commissioner of Calcutta Metropolitan Development Authority. He also held very senior administrative positions in the Central Government in the Departments of Ocean Development and Ministry of Commerce, Government of India. During his tenure as ‘Joint Secretary - Refineries Division’ in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India (2003 - 2008) he was instrumental in formulation and implementation of the ‘Auto Fuel Policy’, Strategic Storage and New Initiatives in Oil Diplomacy. He has served on the Boards of Fortune 500 companies like Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and other oil majors such as Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals Ltd, Chennai, Petroleum Corporation Ltd. and Engineers India Ltd. Recently he was awarded the ‘CEO of The Year 2022’ by Energy & Climate Initiatives Society, amongst many others over the course of his close to four decade long career. He is also a member of various prestigious oil industry bodies and institutions; and an alumnus of IIT, Kharagpur, Southern Cross University, Australia and is a Certified Project Director by International Project Management Association.

Dr. Richard Vincent D'Souza, IAS has been serving as the Managing Director of Karnataka State Warehousing Corporation (KSWC) since two years. Previosuly, he has held multiple leadership positions including Managing Director, Hutti Gold Mines Company Limited; Mission Director, National Health Mission, Department of Health and Family Welfare Services, Govt. of Karnataka (GoK). In a career spanning more than 31 years he has held various positions in the Department of Transport, GOK; Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Panchayath, Raichur; Joint Commissioner (West), BBMP, Bangalore; Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, Kodagu District, amongst others. He joined the Department of Transport, GOK back in 1991. Prior to joining, he was an Aeronautical Engineer at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. Dr. D'Souza graduated from the present National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Kenneth Wong (B.Sc. (Mech. Currently, he is responsible for Canada’s trade, investment and science, technology and innovation (STI) engagement with South India, managing a team of Canadian and locally based Trade Commissioners working out of the Consulate General in Bengaluru as well as trade offices in Hyderabad and Chennai. His previous assignments include appointments in Johannesburg, Los Angeles and Beijing where he has managed files varying from the promotion of Canadian exports of agricultural products, cultural industries, engineering services, education and tourism, to the attraction of foreign direct investment to Canada.

Friedrich Birgelen is the Deputy Consul General for Germany in Bangalore, since July 2021. He is a lawyer by training. After completing both the Bar exams successfully, he began his career as a corporate lawyer for the oil company Shell in Hamburg. In 2015 he joined the foreign services and was posted to Nigeria, with a responsibility for migration matters in West-Africa. In early 2019 he returned to headquarters in Berlin where he worked in human resources, before being posted to Bangalore.

Damon DuBord joined the Economic, Environment, Science, and Technology Section at the Embassy of the United States of America in New Delhi, in August 2022. He most recently served as the Deputy Counselor for Trade and Investment in Embassy Ottawa where he supported the implementation of United States – Mexico – Canada Agreement. Prior to Canada, he served as the Economic Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Mozambique, focusing on energy, trade, and economic growth. He has also served in the Economics Bureau in Washington in the Agriculture Policy Office and the Intellectual Property Enforcement Office. His first tour with the Department of State was in Matamoros, Mexico. Mr. DuBord holds a Masters in Economics from the University of Wyoming and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Ms. Roopa Divakar Moudgil, IPS popularly known as D. Roopa is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, presently appointed as the Managing Director, Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. (KSHDC). Previously, she has been the Inspector-General of Police, Bengaluru, under the Home Department, Govt. of Karnataka. Previously, in 2013, she became the first lady police officer in India to head the Cyber-Crime Police Division. She is also the first woman IPS officer serving in Karnataka and 30th Superintendent of Police of Karnataka, besides being the first woman officer appointed as the Secretary- Prisons, Civil Defence and Auxiliary Services, in the Home Department with the Government of Karnataka. She graduated from Kuvempu University Karnataka with a gold medal and cleared her UPSC exam with an All-India-rank of 43 (out of 2000) and opted for IPS. Post which she underwent rigorous training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad.

D. C. Sekhar was a captain of large merchant marine oil tankers in the early part of his career. After a brief stint in Singapore managing technical risks of a large oil tanker company, he studied finance management at Singapore and Executive Management at IIM Bengaluru. He founded AlphaMERS Ltd. and spent the last decade developing and commercialising solutions for many of the current day challenges. Few of the solutions designed by him are - Ocean Wave to Electricity Converter Device, Hydraulic Robots to Clean Petroleum Oil Tanks, Small Wave Powered Boats, Passive silt traps for low cost management of silt movement and Waterjet powered boats for specialised applications.
