IOD Announcement: New Honorary Chairman of Bengaluru Region

Mr. D. V. Prasad, IAS (Retd.), appointed as the Honorary Chairman of the Bengaluru Region, Institute of Directors, India
Mr. D. V. Prasad, IAS (Retd.), has been appointed as IOD's Honorary Chairman for Bengaluru Region.
Mr. Prasad joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1984. Prior to joining IAS, he was an officer in the Indian Railways. In his career of more than 36 years in the IAS, he held postings at various positions in both the Government of Karnataka and the Government of India. He was superannuated in November 2020 as Chairman and Managing Director of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) at the level of Secretary to the Government of India. He has worked in the fields of commerce and industry, infrastructure, finance, education, and agriculture.
He has held many posts, including Joint Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP); Director (Marketing) of Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India; Additional Chief Secretary, Commerce & Industry; Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries; Chairman and Managing Director of Karnataka State Finance Corporation; Managing Director of Karnataka Oilseeds Federation; Managing Director of Mysore Sugar; Managing Director of Mysore Sales International Limited; Deputy Commissioner of Kolar, Govt. of Karnataka, etc.
He was India's Chief Negotiator on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the negotiations for Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreements (CECAS), and at the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
He has served as director on the boards of several companies including Bangalore International Airport Limited, Konkan Railway Corporation, Central Warehousing Corporation, Central Railside Warehousing Corporation, Infrastructure Development Corporation (Karnataka) Limited, Bangalore Airport Rail Link Limited, Tadadi Port Limited, Information Technology Park Limited, Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board, Tumkuru Machine Tool Park, Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Limited, Karnataka State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, Hassan Mangalore Rail Development Company Limited, Karnataka Tourism Infrastructure Limited, Karnataka Trade Promotion Organisation, Invest Karnataka Forum, Karnataka State Seeds Corporation Limited, Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation Limited, Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Limited, International Flower Auction Bangalore Limited, Food Karnataka Limited, Karnataka Milk Federation, etc.
