Ajay Tyagi IAS (Retd.)

Mr. Ajay Tyagi served as the Chairman of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). He specialises in the financial sector, and has also worked extensively in the environment and energy sectors. Before joining SEBI, Mr. Tyagi had a career spanning over 33 years in the Indian Administrative Service, where he held several senior positions in the Central and State Governments.
Previously, he held key roles as Joint Secretary in the Ministries of Environment & Forests and Petroleum & Natural Gas; Chairman of the Central Pollution Control Board; and Secretary of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board. He also served as Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary in the Departments of Finance, Planning, Industries, and Information Technology for the Government. He was also Government nominee director on the board of RBI, BPCL and GAIL.
Presently, he serves as an Independent Director on several organizations, including Larsen & Toubro, Hyundai Motor India, Tata AIG General Insurance, et al.
