Institute of Directors Delegation meets Senior Officials at the

Ministry of Corporate Affairs

In a significant development aimed at shaping the future of corporate governance in India, a distinguished delegation from the Institute of Directors (IOD) held a meeting with senior officials of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), Government of India, on April 07, 2025.

The delegation, comprising eminent governance experts and IOD's senior leadership comprising former civil servants, engaged in substantive discussions with Ms. Deepti Gaur Mukherjee, IAS, Secretary, MCA, and Mr. D. Balamurugan, IAS, Joint Secretary, MCA, focusing on proposed amendments to the Companies Act, 2013. The dialogue centered on aligning India's regulatory framework with contemporary governance paradigms, ensuring robustness, transparency, and global competitiveness.

Led by Lt. Gen. Surinder Nath, PVSM, AVSM (Retd.), President, IOD, the delegation included luminaries with unparalleled expertise in public policy and corporate governance:

• Mr. Desh Deepak Verma, IAS (Retd.), Principal Advisor, IOD, and Former Secretary-General, Rajya Sabha (Parliament of India).

• Mr. Sailesh, IAS (Retd.), Senior Strategic Advisor, IOD, and Former Secretary, Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), and Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Government of India.

• Dr. Sameer Sharma (PhD, D. Litt), IAS (Retd.), Honorary Chairman, IOD Hyderabad Region, and Former Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh.

• Mr. Pradeep Chaturvedi, Vice President, IOD.

• Mr. Manoj K. Raut, CEO & Secretary-General, IOD.

The deliberations were marked by a shared vision for enhancing India's corporate governance ecosystem, fostering investor confidence, and integrating global best practices while addressing domestic imperatives. The exchange underscored IOD's pivotal role as a thought leader in governance excellence and its commitment to facilitating meaningful policy discourse.

This engagement reaffirms the collaborative spirit between India's regulatory leadership and premier governance institutions, paving the way for a progressive, future-ready corporate legal framework.

Institute of Directors (Mumbai Region) Delegation meets Chairman of

Securities and Exchange Board
of India (SEBI)

In a significant development aimed at shaping the future of corporate governance in India, a distinguished delegation from the Institute of Directors (IOD), Mumbai met with the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on April 07, 2025.

Mr. Tuhin Kant Pandey, IAS, Chairman of SEBI. The dialogue commenced with a warm welcome to Mr. Pandey on his new assignment, along with the IOD's best wishes for his tenure. Mr. Kunte also appraised him about IOD's role as a think-tank that is engaged in capacity building for existing & aspiring directors, knowledge sharing through conclaves and publications and recognizing corporate excellence through the Golden Peacock Awards.

The delegation also included Ms. Priti Arora, Chief General Manager, IOD Mumbai and Mr. Sharad Prabhu, Deputy Regional Manager, IOD Mumbai.

The discussion reflected a mutual commitment to advancing India's corporate governance landscape by aligning global standards with the country's unique regulatory and economic needs. Both sides emphasized the importance of fostering trust in the corporate sector through enhanced transparency, accountability, and boardroom effectiveness.

The meeting reaffirmed the Institute of Directors' position as a key enabler of governance reform and a credible voice in shaping policy. It also highlighted the growing synergy between regulatory authorities and governance institutions in building a resilient, investor-friendly, and forward-looking corporate framework for India.

Institute of Directors (Mumbai Region) Delegation meets Chief Secretary of the

Government of Maharashtra

A distinguished delegation from the Institute of Directors (IOD), Mumbai met with the Chief Secretary of the Government of Maharashtra (GOM) on April 07, 2025 for a strategic dialogue aimed at redefining the future of corporate governance, blending cutting-edge policy frameworks with Maharashtra's dynamic economic ambitions.

The delegation was led by Mr. Sitaram Kunte, IAS (Retd.), former Chief Secretary, Govt. of Maharashtra, and Honorary Chairman – Western Region, Institute of Directors, India who engaged in substantive discussions with Ms. Sujata Saunik, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Maharashtra (GOM). The dialogue commenced by thanking her for the commendable work being done for the State. Mr. Kunte expressed gratitude for Ms. Saunik's insightful remarks at the recently held IOD's 19th International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility in February 2025. Ms Saunik was also apprised of IOD's pioneering activities in the areas of creating an ecosystem for 'Future-Ready Boards' through training, conferences, advisory and other initiatives. Ms. Saunik shared deep appreciation and expressed continued support from the Government of Maharashtra.

The delegation also included Ms. Priti Arora, Chief General Manager, IOD Mumbai and Mr. Sharad Prabhu, Deputy Regional Manager, IOD Mumbai.

The meeting reaffirmed IOD's pivotal role in governance advocacy and highlighted the growing synergy between regulatory bodies and institutional stakeholders.
