Clarity Competes

By- Institute of Directors | Authored by- Mr. Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay

"Clarity Competes", showcases that the successful organisation does not necessarily use more shortcuts or technical solutions than its competitors, but instead aligns what is done within the organisation with its overall goal.

The book's most compelling contribution lies in what Mukhopadhyay calls the “cost–value paradox.” Organisations, in their pursuit of efficiency, often end up eroding the very value they seek to create.

The book persuasively demonstrates how clarity cuts through complexity, enabling faster and more confident strategic decision-making with significantly less ambiguity. In a distracted and fast-evolving business environment, it underscores that organisations which prioritise clarity are better positioned to outperform simply by focusing on what truly drives value.

More importantly, Clarity Competes transforms this philosophy into a practical leadership framework. It equips leaders with a coherent approach to drive positive outcomes and sustainable progress, not by merely outpacing competitors, but by fostering internal alignment and connecting organisational dots with precision. This orientation makes the book both distinctive and highly relevant.

While the book speaks broadly to leaders, its real strength lies in its multi-level applicability:

Boards and CXOs will find a framework for aligning strategy with execution.

Entrepreneurs and founders will gain tools to scale without losing discipline.

Functional leaders will understand how their decisions impact enterprise-wide value.

Business schools can effectively leverage the insights and knowledge presented in this guide.

Importantly, the book creates a shared language of clarity, reducing organisational friction, which is a challenge familiar to most large institutions.
