IOD Distinguished Fellowship - 2025

Mr. Nagaraju, a senior IAS officer of the Tripura cadre. He brings over three decades of experience spanning Local, State, National and International level in various capacities for over a period of 30 years.
At the State level, he served as District Magistrate, Director of Tribal Welfare, Secretary & Principal Secretary of Health, Finance and Industries & Commerce departments. His tenure was marked by pioneering work in tribal development and the rehabilitation of surrendered militants. As the Director in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs), he managed India's bilateral economic relations and spearheaded infrastructure projects and was also in charge of financing large projects like Delhi Metro, from JICA. He was also in charge of India- US Financial and Economic Forum and India-US CEO Forum. As Advisor to the Executive Director at the World Bank (2008-2012) he contributed to the global respond to the financial, fuel and food crisis while securing significant development assistance for India. He was also closely involved in G-20 and other multi-lateral discussions.
More recently, as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal he opened the sector for commercial mining, transforming India towards a coal surplus country. Currently he serves as the Secretary, Department of Financial Services since 19 August, 2024, shaping financial sector reforms.

Nagaraju, for his outstanding contribution to India's financial sector through a distinguished career marked by integrity, vision, public welfare and policy excellence. In various key leadership roles, he has been instrumental in advancing financial inclusion, strengthening regulatory frameworks, and championing reforms that have enhanced transparency, resilience, and equitable growth across the India's entire financial ecosystem.
