IOD News November 2025 - IOD, India and ICGN Advance Strategic Dialogue to Strengthen India's Governance Landscape
Following an impactful participation at the Institute of Directors (IOD), India London Global Convention (November 04 - 07, 2025), Ms. Jen Sisson, CEO of the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN), reconvened with IOD leadership for a high-level strategic discussion. The meeting, held on November 18th at the Gymkhana Club, New Delhi, underscored a mutual commitment to deepening collaboration on corporate governance in India.
The IOD was represented by a senior delegation including Mr. Manoj K. Raut, CEO & Secretary General; Mr. Ashok Kapur, IAS (Retd.), Director General; Mr. Desh Deepak Verma, IAS (Retd.), Principal Advisor; alongside other key officials. They were joined by Mr. Harinderjit Singh, Advisor-India for ICGN, also a distinguished IOD member, facilitating a rich exchange of perspectives.
The closed-door dinner served as a platform to translate the momentum from London into actionable initiatives. Central to the dialogue was ICGN's core mission of elevating the 'G' in ESG, an objective profoundly aligned with IOD's national mandate to enhance directorial standards and boardroom effectiveness. Conversations focused on identifying concrete, practical avenues for partnership between ICGN and IOD India.
Primary exploration centered on developing collaborative thought leadership and capacity-building programmes. Potential initiatives include specialised webinars and joint research projects designed to bolster awareness and proficiency among institutional investors and corporate boards. The shared goal is to foster more dynamic, substantive engagement between companies and their shareholders, thereby strengthening the pillars of accountability and stewardship in the Indian market.
This meeting marks a deliberate and forward step towards a formalised partnership framework. Such an alliance between IOD, India's premier institution for director development, and ICGN, a global authority on investor-led governance, is poised to significantly influence and strengthen India's corporate governance ecosystem. It promises to align domestic practices with evolving global standards, directly contributing to more robust, transparent, and sustainable markets.
